The World According To Lasso
One of the most beloved and award-winning shows ended just a few weeks ago, and anyone who’s a fan was a bit sad as we all wanted it to keep going. In just three short seasons, Ted Lasso touched our hearts. It filled the void of much-needed connection and joy during Covid isolation, and offered so many important lessons on how to live life as your best and highest self. It all begins when Ted Lasso, an American college football coach, is suddenly recruited to coach an English pro soccer team by its new owner as a means of revenge on her unfaithful ex-husband – the previous owner. Ted’s hired in hopes that he will fail the team, hurting her ex who loved them. However, Ted’s charm, endless positivity and humor quickly win over the new owner Rebecca, the team, and even the British press.
Ted has this heartwarming folksy optimism, is kind, encouraging and compassionate. He lifts everyone up with endless hope and enthusiasm, and unforgettable funny quotes. Throughout the show this character teaches us so many important lessons on how to lead by example, follow your heart, support and empower your team and be your very best. His leadership style creates a bond that makes the team strong and unstoppable. They champion each other on and off the field, and form an unbreakable circle of love.
“Living in the moment, it’s a gift. That’s why they call it the present.” – Ted Lasso

If you Google Ted Lasso quotes or lessons, there’s an endless list to choose from. But here are a few I grabbed and shortened from an article on LinkedIn published by Marcin Klinkosz in his Marketing Machine newsletter.
~ Believe in yourself: You must first believe in your own abilities and trust that you can overcome obstacles.
~ Doing the right thing is never the wrong thing: In a world filled with ethical dilemmas and gray areas, prioritizing integrity and moral values is crucial. A strong moral compass will guide you in the right direction and foster respect.
~ All people are different people: Embrace the power of diversity and individuality. Every person brings unique skills, experiences, and perspectives to the table. Recognize and celebrate these differences.
~ See good in others: Focus on the strengths of your team and help them grow by providing encouragement and support. When you empower others to succeed, you create a positive environment where everyone can thrive.
~ Courage is about being willing to try: Taking risks and stepping out of your comfort zone are essential for growth and success. Celebrate both successes and failures as opportunities to grow.
~ Vulnerability is a strength, not a weakness: Admitting your mistakes and being open about your feelings fosters trust and connection within your circle.
~ Optimists do more: A positive outlook fuels motivation, creativity, and problem-solving abilities. Look for opportunities in every situation and maintain a positive attitude, even when faced with setbacks.
~ Be a Goldfish: Don’t dwell on mistakes or let them define you. Learn from them and move on quickly, just like a goldfish forgetting things within 10 seconds.
~ Happiness is a choice: While external circumstances can influence our emotions, we ultimately have control over our own happiness. Choose to cultivate happiness by focusing on gratitude, positivity, and self-care, and encourage your circle to do the same.
Ted Lasso inspires us to be the very best we can be for ourselves and for others. If we all lived by the principles of his character and others on the show, the world would be an even better, brighter, more peaceful place. I hope Lasso lives in the hearts of all who watched and will watch forever.
“If you care about someone, and you got a little love in your heart, there ain’t nothing you can’t get through together.” Ted Lasso
