About Bryan: (Vinoda Kovida Das)
Bryan is a devotional Kirtan leader and Bhakti teacher and mentor.
While studying music in Boulder, Colorado, Bryan developed a deep yearning for truth and meaning in his life. Following this yearning, he began to study eastern philosophy and spirituality. In 2009 he discovered the practice of bhakti-yoga, the yoga of devotion, which captured his heart and mind. He became deeply immersed in bhakti while studying in Boulder and soon after his graduation, took up the life of a monastic within a small spiritual community in Denver, Colorado. While there, he studied bhakti texts, as well as the traditional culture of India’s vedantic traditions. He learned about kirtan, ayurveda, and devotion to Krishna and facilitated regular gatherings on various college campuses in the area. He traveled to India 4 times on pilgrimage during the 7 years in the monastery where he witnessed the vast yoga culture at its root.
In 2020, Bryan decided to leave the monastery in hopes of sharing the teachings and practices of the yoga tradition of India with the world on a broader scale. Currently Bryan is studying as an interfaith chaplain at Rex Hospital in Raleigh and simultaneously striving to connect with and grow the kirtan and bhakti communities in the Raleigh area. Bryan has a deep conviction in the power of chanting to cleanse and soothe the hearts of individuals and communities of all types, and he sees that kirtan especially complements those who already have a familiarity with yoga practices. He is on a continuous journey towards understanding the sacredness of life and the journey of the soul and he is eager to meet and explore with others who have similar inclinations.
