Get Out & Get Growing

Oct 14, 2025 by Cary Yoga

A friend of mine recently posted a fun quote that stuck with me…

“Get out from your house, from your cave, from your car, from the place you feel safe, from the place that you are. Get out and go running, go funning, go wild, get out from your head and get growing, dear child.” — Dallas Clayton

There is something so timeless and freeing in these words. A reminder that life doesn’t happen only within the walls we build around ourselves — whether those walls are made of brick, routine, or fear. All too often, we get caught in the familiar spaces of comfort: our homes, our offices, or even the quiet caves of our minds. And while safety has its place, growth rarely blooms in the soil of sameness.

The places we feel safe can also become the places we get stuck. Comfort is warm, predictable, & protective. But over time, it can quietly narrow our lives. It can shrink our sense of wonder, adventure, & possibility. Aliveness, on the other hand, requires a step into the unknown. It invites us to run barefoot through the grass, try something new, laugh until our sides ache, or travel down a road we’ve never taken before. It’s in these moments of play and exploration that our spirit breathes more deeply.

When Dallas Clayton says “get out,” he isn’t just speaking about leaving a physical space — he’s calling us to leave the small, limiting places in our minds. To release the endless loops of overthinking, shake up the rhythm that numbs us, and step into the unknown, even for a little while. Because every time we step outside the borders of what feels safe, we discover inviting and exciting new pieces of ourselves that were just waiting to be discovered.

There’s also a reason the quote calls us to “go funning, go wild.” Growth doesn’t always have to come from struggle, discipline, or hard work. Sometimes the most transformative moments come when we allow ourselves to play. Play softens us. It opens the heart. It shakes loose the heaviness of adulthood and reminds us of the child inside who knows how to wonder, how to dance, how to see magic in the ordinary.

So today, consider this your invitation. Step out — even in a small way.

Go for a walk without a destination. Say yes to something spontaneous.

Sing too loudly. Laugh too freely. Feel the sun, the wind, the earth against your skin.

Each spark of joy you let in is a seed for growth. And in time, those seeds blossom into a life that feels more expansive, more vibrant, and more alive. Because life isn’t meant to be lived only in safe spaces. It’s meant to be lived in wide-open ones — outside your walls, outside your fears, and outside your head.

XOXO, Heather
