Embracing A Winter Arc

Feb 4, 2025 by Cary Yoga

By; Heather Blanchard

This time of year my family and I tend to get the Winter Blues. But…a few weeks ago our daughter Lauren said she was going to have a Winter Arc to avoid retreating into a gloomy mood this season. When I asked what a Winter Arc was, she said it’s simply a commitment to make the most of your time each and every day. It’s about elevating your energy through healthy choices, exercising and getting outside as much as possible – even when it’s really cold. It’s also about spending time wisely, setting healthy boundaries and balancing rest with activity.

Winter depression is a real thing ~ even here where the winters are short. And as tempting as it is to curl up on the couch under a blanket, we can’t discount the benefits of raising our vibration in a season that’s all too often lost in low energies and trailing moods.

Here’s the good news…
Our Winter Solstice is just a few weeks away on December 21st. This date marks a turning point in the astronomical cycle where we turn toward the sun as our days begin to gradually lengthen once again. And as each new season begins, it’s the perfect time to let go of what doesn’t serve us and invite fresh, new intentions in. Of course the New Year always invites us to take pause, reflect on the past and create new resolutions. The key here is to take hold of those goals and continue taking steps towards them rather than letting them fade as winter drags on. I’ll leave you with a beautiful Solstice Poem here…

XOXO, Heather
